Composer: Tadd Russo
Piece: Symphony Fanfare (2005)

Symphony Fanfare was written in June 2005 for the Dallas Wind Symphony fanfare competition. It begins as three major chords compete for prominence, interrupting and overlapping each other. Muted trumpets take over with combative rhythmic figures punctuated by tutti outbursts, which eventually seize control and propel the fanfare to a triumphant close.

Winner: The Dallas Wind Symphony 2005-2006 Fanfare Competition. Premiered at Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, Texas in 2006.
